Forget My Face :: essays research papers

Forget my face. I belong in London. Forget my name and take this as goodbye. No, I will not put a fight, my will for living has died. I've been living a lie. I am a lie. I'm trite and cheap. I have five dollars and a couple coins with me. If I continue living a lie, then I might as well be paralyzed. Lies are truths never born. So when I board the plane take it as my rebirth. A twelve hour flight in the womb over lonely seas and if by chance this plane was to go down I'd curl up in my polyester seat and turn as white as a premature baby. But if luck goes my way I'll be delivered safely into England as healthy as a new born baby boy. The airport's bustling and my feet are moving faster than I'm thinking. Through heavy metal doors I step into the streets slick with rain. As I smell the cool air, my lungs transpire London. With each sense intruiged I'm reborn and anxious for what comes next. I'm as healthy as I've ever been, I'm alive as Las Vegas night-life and it's only ten AM. Alone I walk down a road with green scenery. A sky so plain and trees so green. Arriving at the house I took for rent I've realized I'll never miss my bed. Too many nights it's caught my tears and it's caving in from memories of you and me. A new bed will provide new comfort in a new city I'd like to call my home. Out in town I'm not a forienger, I'm like a local and I'm more light hearted than I've ever felt. It's been six months and I've seen Big Ben and I sat upon the London Eye where I met this beautiful boy. He was gentle as he told me his name and he took a seat next to me. On our 4th time revolving over the sea he'd asked me out for coffee. This boy was clever. As we reached our 3rd cup of coffee we sat and learned about eachother. As time when on each coffee kept us awake and we sat until the early morning talking about English history. The Virgin Queen was recognized and pilgrimage was condoned. We went through all of Shakespeares plays and recited our favorite lines.

Why Grammar Is Important

It is obvious that not many people realize how important grammar is. There are so many abbreviations and so much slang nowadays, it is impossible to know what people mean. I can’t even count how many times I have had to call someone to ask them what they were talking about in a text message because they didn’t use correct punctuation and grammar. I never did pay attention that much to grammar or punctuation either when I was in elementary and middle school. However, ever since I have gotten to high school, I have become a grammar Nazi.Which brings me to this conclusion, children are being educated enough to be hired for a job, they just choose not to pay attention in class. Now I know that my conclusion sounds bad, so let me elaborate. Jobs should not be so critical on who they choose to hire; especially when it is something as petty as getting â€Å"to† and â€Å"too† mixed up. It depends on the job though what kind of English education they should have. If a job does not require much writing, what difference does it make? Unless you are using things like â€Å"YOLO† or â€Å"LOL† on your resume, then there is no problem. If a job requires good English, then yes, I can see the problem. I must admit, however, that I have heard some waiters and cashiers use some odd grammar. It makes you think twice about what it takes to get a job in today’s time. I understand that homophones can be confusing. Think about it, â€Å"here† and â€Å"hear†, â€Å"they’re†, â€Å"their†, and â€Å"there†. Is it just me, or do other people realize that it is not that hard to realize the differences? As I said, I have become a complete grammar Nazi, I HATE seeing things like that. I went to there house and they’re dog bit me. † No, you went to their house and their dog bit you. I swear, it is as if people make these idiotic mistakes on purpose. Something else that not many people kn ow, grammar saves lives†¦ Moreover, faces. Take for instance a statement like this: â€Å"Lets it Grandma! † It should be, â€Å"Let’s eat, Grandma! † It is amazing how one simple comma can save a dear old woman’s life. â€Å"Woman without her man is nothing. † Pardon me? More like, â€Å"Woman: Without her, man is nothing. † That is better. Also, a bit of advice for those trying to sound awesome when they say, †I could care less,† it’s, †I couldn’t care less. † By saying that you could care less is implying that you do actually care. As you can see, grammar has a huge impact of our lives. It also is the basis of the difference between what you want people to think you mean, and what they think you mean. So make life easy on everyone, use correct grammar and spelling. Stop clubbing baby seals. OR, stop clubbing, baby seals. Remember, grammar saves lives.

I See Myself Fitting Into Society As An Intermediate Member

Currently I see myself fitting into society as an intermediate member. I haven’t reached my end goal in terms of career, but I still am a member of the work force. My job may not be my end goal, but it is still a contributing factor in society. I also consider myself a millennial which separates me from older generations. Truthfully where you fit into society is tied to perspective and how you view yourself in comparison to others. As for problems that I wish to solve within society they mainly relate to my future career goals. I feel the education system as it stand currently is ineffective in preparing our youth for a promising future. I wish to be an active participant in creating more effective pedagogy. Not all issues I wish to solve†¦show more content†¦I had been a teacher’s assistant my junior and senior year and was often given the ability to help educate students, but I never felt I was as successful as I could have been. Attending college gives me th e ability to enter a program specifically designed to further my ability as a teacher. Another reason for attending college is it offers a chance for me to stretch my comfort zone. I have dealt with general anxiety for almost all my lifetime. Much of this anxiety spurs from school. Although it adds more pressure within my life, I am being given opportunities to learn coping mechanisms. While researching areas within sociology, two piqued my interest. The first being The sociology of sexuality. This is more of a personal interest than a career related one. Growing up as a homosexual male I often experienced difficult situations. Understanding deeper on the interlacing of sexualities within a society seems interesting. During my youth I received harassment from my peers, and through a sociological standpoint I should analyze this and apply prevention methods within my career field of education. Most of the harassment I received was presented during school hours, and thus any progress I can personally make to ease LGBT+ youth’s progression through the school system is both personally rewarding but also rewarding the student’s lives as well.
